Correction: In the video, I stated it was an AMOLED display. It isn’t. It’s an IPS LCD panel. Apologies. Cam reviews the surprisingly great Lumia 830. It’s t…

    Nokia Lumia 830 review

  • IinaTheMagnet 2 years ago

Thanks Cam, this was a really nice and simple review. I have been
struggling for which to buy, the 830 or 930. I’m leaning towards the 830
because it’s still 130€ cheaper in here and I’d like to have a slim phone.
Plus, from what you reviewed, I feel like the screen and processor isn’t as
big of a compromise what people try to make it seem.

got my 830 couple weeks back the display is really good don’t know what
your talking about colours do pop and it does have a decent amount of
brightness iv also found video to be pretty spot on tbh

    3:26 OM*G !!! I could say that’s fake right there, but I know Nokia
probably makes the best phone cameras ever, so I guess that’s totally real.

  • zeebazu 2 years ago

In the video he says its AMOLED? Isn’t the 830 fitted with IPS LCD?

  • Ayush Pandey 2 years ago

Replaced my old N925 with this. Speed is similar. But where it shines is
Camera and battery. 925 display is great though.

The Nokia Lumia 521 is the best phone ever made. There’s no comparison.

  • Yanano Bere 2 years ago

+KidRandomTV The first number denotes the model. The last two digits tell
you which generation of windows phone it is. Eg 520 = 500 series (low end
range) and 20 means (Windows Phone 8 device). All the Lumias that launched
with Windows Phone 8 end with 20. 520,620,720,1520 etc. The new windows 8.1
devices all end in 30 coz they ship with the next generation of the OS. 500
    & 600 is low end, 700 & 800 are mid to high, 900 is premium. 1000 Super
Camera Phone, 1300 low end phablet, 1500 high end phablet. 920 gets
replaced by 930, 820 by 830 and so on. It’s quite straight forward if
    you’re used to it.

Another great review cam. Great to see another English mobile reviewer I
like pocketnow reviews but always find you focus on camera a little better
as maybe you have better knowledge in that area which I appreciate much as
camera is a big selling point on phones these days. Someone here said Nokia
should make android phones wish they did but MS will never do that. MS
should just use Google services e.g playstore then we would all be happy :)

@Travis McCormick I feel same! Windows phones are far better than buggy
    android and too expensive iphones

I have an iPhone 5 and cos i don’t use a lot of apps anymore and I hate
android I;m thinking about getting this… Do you think ill miss certain
things like airplay and I’m guessing theres no WP google maps?

As far as apps go that I do use its basically FB, Twitter, ebay and
paypal… how do they compare in features?

  • Alexis Aguiñaga 2 years ago

“Pixel density of just under 300 per inch” come on! it’s 296 ppi, just
    4pixel under 300, can’t you say that? it’s a little tendentious, don’t you
Haha, despite this this video is so good, I hate reviews of half an hour,
and this is quick and complete;)
    I’m gonna but this phone
Can you compare the 730 vs this in app speed?

Same Same Same old old old routine routine routine stuff. I like this phone
and I’ve watched some 25-40 reviews from various channels and my god every
reviewer says the same old boring story. Come on, who wants to know where
volume rocker is? Where headphone jack is? Where USB port is? We are smart
and can simply view a pic of the phone and get an idea. We want you to show
something that isn’t readily available. 720p screen, 300ppi, Snapdragon
400, battery stats, we don’t need them, we can see these details on lumia
830 specifications on web. What I want to know is..How is the picture
clarity? By that I mean the photos transferred over USB to the device. How
vibrant are the videos?? How does IE11 open flash heavy websites? How
smooth does online videos play? What is the sound clarity? How does the
device sound especially with the Dolby Sound? What are the various cool
features Windows Phone offers? What are the stand out settings? Like the
quite hours, MS Office. Why don’t people review these things? not in depth
but at least a hint? Stop repeatedly repeating the same thing over and
over again, say something new buddy.

By the way, I liked your review, it’s crisp and cool, best of the lot out

have just acquired the new 830 myself, and I love it both the wife and I
needed to upgrade, she has the 630 and is more than happy with it, it does
everything a 70 year old needs, I went for the 830 after watching as much
as I could on you tube about all mobiles, and like you say, its a mid range
phone that works like a top of the range phone. my only problem I have is
with cortana, I cannot seem to get it to work properly for me. but I will
get it in the end, i feel sure. Thank you Father Christmas, its nice to get
    an early present. Mike palmer

Going to get this phone because it uses IPS. I hate AMOLED, fake looking
colours and not to mention screen burn over time. IPS = None of that.

Mid range phone done Correct! Good things about windows phone is that it
can have an outdated chip set and still run fast and smooth

  • MrWarlock616 2 years ago

@TravisMcCormick No you’re not. I’m pretty happy my 820 and my friends just
envy its design. The OS is smooth and easy to use, apps aren’t too many in
numbers but most of them are good. I wish there were more shooter games
though. And I also wish the Skype app improved. It kinda sucks right now

  • Cam Bunton 2 years ago

Sorry everyone, it’s an LCD display. Not AMOLED. Apologies.

  • Joseph Lukowski 2 years ago

I bought one yesterday. The 920 I had was acting up — rebooting and
shutting down — so I took the chance. If more people were aware of how
all your devices speak to one another with Windows, and how smart Cortana
is, the Windows choice would be obvious.

I love this device but i love the clear black panel on the 930. Ive seen a
display setting where i can toggle screen saturation etc. Will it give more
deeper blacks? Please try it out and let me know. Thanks . great vid
